CASTLE Brelidy

Some words on the history of the Castle of Brelidy first of all a feudal mound...
In the year 1000, on a rocky headland, dominating the valleys of the JAUDY and the THEOULAS, a stronghold was built, made of earth then of stone... A desirable object, destroyed during the Breton wars in the 14th Century, between the Montfort and Blois families.

In 1342, the Lordship of Leverzault (situated up to there to Parc-coz-arc'hatel), took place in the “Chateau du Mur” attributed to them by Charles de Blois. The fortress was dismantled after the battle of Roche-Derrien, in 1347.

Today, only the ruins of the great fortification remain on the feudal mound surrounded by the deep medieval hollows.
